Oxford Couch Crashers

In the last few weeks of term, my friends and I had a number of visitors including the charming Jack Kent Poole, but we'll get to that. I'll start with Mike's Australian couch surfer who insisted I take several of these pictures:

Aussie on the right, Peter on the left who he insisted is the spitting image of Jake Gyllenhaal. What do you think?

Anyway, Grace, Mike and I went with our guest to Rocky Horror Picture Show at Magdalen where I knew the most callouts. Boy, is that telling. Luckily I was a little tipsy so the movie didn't feel as long as it normally does.

From there we hit up some pubs ending up at the Kings Arms, of course where we met up with Peter, Matt, Sensible Dave, and possible others. (Notice, still rockin the Oxford comma)

Mike intentionally ruining this picture. What a charmer.

Mitch came down from London for the Weekend! Lexi and Mitch out back at the Turf Tavern.

Jack came too! Jack and I met up with Lexi and Mitch at Magdalen College (pronounced Maudlin) to check out the college and its deer park. What? Not all colleges have one, just Magdalen. In the rivalry between Catz and Magdalen the saying goes: Magdalen got a deer park, Catz got a car park. What's more useful? And to be honest, because Oxford has so little parking, the car park is kind of a big deal.

Jack was disappointed that the deer were clumped together instead of artfully placed sporadically around the park. Nature: doin it wrong. The grounds were still beautiful sprouting with crocuses and other signs of early spring.

Duck facing the world?

After the park we went to an overpriced cafe on High Street which had palm trees in it and mirror walls.

At the King's Arms I got Jack a winter Pimms. Quite a treat, even if it is a girly drink.

I leave you with this Benjamin Franklin quote: "The busy man has few idle visitors, to the boiling pot, the flies come out." WHAT?

  1. Lovely! In Botswana, the whole country is just a cattle park - unfortunately for Jack they are also not artfully scattered around the landscape. Ahh yes...to the boiling, the flies come out - such wisdom, such clarity. Thank you for that little gem.

  2. Is there room for a few deer from Nyack over there? Could consider transportation costs...

You look to be hilariously engaged, having fun fun fun with your friends.
